Our Organizational Principles and Ideologies

Multi-faceted lens for analyzing and proffering solutions to local and global sustainability challenges.

Less is More

Multiplication of large-scale, complex solutions often compound and complicate cumulative impacts. Decentralized, small-scale solutions tend to minimize overall impacts and enhance local and regional sustainability.

No Holy Grail

There is no single planetary solution or answer to all sustainability questions. The solutions the planet seek are not cast in stone. A holistic combination of small-to-medium scale solutions, a little-here and a little there is what is needed to systematically tackle grand planetary challenges, one step or process at a time.

System thinking and analysis

Systems thinking and analysis is the pathway to solving most of the world’s complex problems and challenges. It is ability to analyze problems and solutions as part of a whole. It is also based on the understanding that problems and solutions are more than the sum of their individual parts. It involves the combination of several perspectives, views, ideas, principles and ideologies both for understanding a problem and for proffering solutions to them.

End point of sustainability solution

Sustainability solutions cannot be deemed successful or conclusive if they are not replicable (at least to some extent), and if it they have not been seen to enhance the resilience of the most vulnerable people, landscapes, groups, population and communities within the originating or destination societies.

End goal of sustainability solution

The end goal of all sustainability solutions at all times, scales and levels should be to attain a just and acceptable balance among relevant economic, social, environmental, political or institutional considerations, in a way that past or current needs have been met or are being met without compromising the abilities of future generations to meet their own needs.
